What is the difference between a burial and a cremation?
Answer here:
Burial and cremation are two different options when a loved one passes away. A traditional burial consists of placing a deceased’s body in a casket and interring the casket typically in a cemetery, a mausoleum (a free standing monument), or other designated burial sites. The family can choose to have a visitation or wake, where the body is displayed in the casket to a public or private viewing, where people can come and express their condolences to the immediate family. A traditional burial funeral is more expensive than a cremation service. The costs incurred would include the funeral home charges, the cemetery fees, the casket, and the automobiles to get the deceased to their final resting place.
A cremation is when the body is reduced to ashes that typically takes place at a crematory. The ashes, or cremains can be placed in an urn, and can also be buried in a cemetery, a mausoleum, or other designated site. Ashes can also be scattered at sea, at certain cemeteries, and other designated locations.
